Winter 2025 Tennis Membership Special

The Tennis Committee has been hard at work brainstorming how to attract younger players to the Murraywood tennis scene. Our courts are very empty in the evenings and we are hoping to lure some teams and players to night play at Murraywood. To that end, we are offering a special membership deal for the end of our year, December through March, that will cover the spring season and allow folks to try out the Club at a reduced rate. Maybe some pool folks would like to try some tennis…or former MW junior players.

Name
Address
Price: $150.00

The cost is only $150 for an individual tennis membership; a family can join for $170.

Please spread the word about this special deal! Our courts are so lonely at night!

Doin’ Good in the Wood

Huge shout out to our members and the volunteer coordinators!

This week, Carol Paulson and Donna Saleeby delivered the 4th “houseful” of tennis can pop tops to the Ronald McDonald House, the organization that helps families whose children are hospitalized at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital. Their pop top program generates revenue by recycling the aluminum tops. Many thanks to all the Murraywood members who remember to put their tennis can tops in the court-side bins, and a huge shout out to Donna Saleeby who collects lids from tournaments held all over the state, and to Carol Paulson who coordinates the delivery to the Ronald McDonald House. Doin’ Good in the ‘Wood, as we should!!!

50th Anniversary Celebration Committee Needs Members!

Now that the weather is thinking about cooling off, it’s time to celebrate 50 YEARS OF MURRAYWOOD. Party Planning Committee Chair, Kelly Marlin, would love to have some energetic and creative members to plan the bash of the season. Ideas tossed about have included: Champagne! Food Trucks! Dancing! Tennis! Games! And more! One member has suggested the invention of a special cocktail for the event. (Thinking there might be alcohol involved 🤪).

If you would like to be a part of the planning, please reach out to Kelly Marlin at (803) 466-5207‬. We would like to have the party at the end of September or early October so it’s time to giddy-up!

Test-Run of Weekday Hours After School Starts!

You asked and we listened! There is sadness for some members when our lifeguard staff returns to school (high school and college) and we have no weekday hours due to limited or no lifeguards. However, our pool classification allows us to operate without lifeguards as a “swim at your own risk” facility. Therefore, we are going to have a test run of limited weekday hours staffed by check-in and concession attendants only. If this test run is successful (safe and used by members), we will continue for the rest of August.

Here are the details:

  • The test-run dates will be Monday, August 11 through Thursday, August 14 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. District 5 starts back to school on August 7. (High school swim teams will be using the facility for practices on the weekday afternoons and evenings).
  • Sign-in and concessions attendants will be on site.
  • The diving well will be CLOSED.
  • All members and guests will be required to sign a liability waiver upon entry.
  • If attendance is adequate, and no safety issues present, we will continue this schedule through August!

Please note that we will be open on a Friday evening through Sunday weekend schedule until we close after Labor Day Monday.
