Fall Tourney and Fundraiser for Special Olympics!

The support for the Oct 1st and 2nd Fall Doubles – Special Olympics Fundraiser was amazing. Thanks to all who came out in support of the Area 7 Special Olympics tennis athletes on one or both of these beautiful fall evenings to play tennis, spectate, share delicious food and enjoy warm company. Murraywood raised $2,000 towards the Saluda Slammers’ trip to Hilton Head to compete in the Special Olympics North America Tennis Championship!

Athletes and Unified partners from throughout the Region will compete in tennis and pickleball from October 16 – 18 in Hilton Head, SC.

Our Thursday, Oct 1st events were doubles for eight 2.5 teams  four 3.0 teams. 24 ladies competed in “Pro sets – first team to win 8 games.”

Our Friday, Oct 2nd events were doubles for three 3.5 men’s teams, two 2.5 teams and four 4.0-4.5 teams. The 20 ladies played regular matches and the 6 men played “Pro sets.”

Murraywood’s Director of Tennis, Sean Northcott organized the tennis play  format on both evenings. Katherine Keckeisen, Membership Chair, provided tennis item gifts for the winners of “most games tallied” on Thursday night and for all 26 players on Friday night. A total of 46 tennis players (unduplicated) competed over the two evening event.
